RSCC and NewSat to work together in the Asia-Pacific Region

The Russian and Australian satellite operators have signed an agreement to provide services using the Express-AM3 satellite capacity

The Russian national operator RSCC and the Australian satellite operator NewSat have signed an agreement to lease capacity of the Express-AM3 satellite (103˚E) steerable beam. The three year lease agreement supports NewSat’s customer, an Asia telecommunications company, with a total contract value of over USD$13 million.

Express-AM3 satellite has been relocated from 140˚E to 103˚E in June 2014. The satellite is successfully used by the Russian communications and broadcasting operators in the Far East of Russia, central and eastern Siberia. In the framework of its strategy to enter new markets in the East, RSCC has concluded a capacity lease agreement with NewSat, the most dynamic developing satellite operator in the eastern hemisphere. The capacity of Express-AM3 will be used to provide cellular and Wi-Fi backhaul services in the Asian-Pacific Region.

“The agreement between RSCC and NewSat is an important milestone in the expansion  of the Russian company’s  customer base in the Asia-Pacific. We are glad to deliver NewSat a unique satellite  platform capable of  providing  a wide range of services and applications for the end users in the region. We also hope to continue our further cooperation with NewSat and combine our joint efforts in offering communications and broadcasting services mostly required by the satcom market using RSCC’s satellites in the future” says Yuri Prokhorov, RSCC General Director.

“We are excited to work with new partners such as RSCC to support us meeting our customer’s unique requirements. RSCC is an established operator with a great reputation, they are expanding their fleet and are fantastic to work with. Technically astute and a strong organisation, we have developed an excellent relationship and look forward to working with RSCC on future opportunities, echoed Adrian Ballintine, NewSat, Founder and CEO..
