September 9, 2013

Japanese operator SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation has chosen Arianespace to launch a new satellite

Stéphane Israël, Chairman and CEO of Arianespace announced today in Paris the signature of the launch contract with SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation.

Weighing more than 5 tons at launch, this satellite will be launched by an Ariane 5 into a geostationary transfer orbit in late 2015 from the Guiana Space Center, Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana (South America).

Almost a quarter century since the launch of JCSAT-1 in 1989, SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation and Arianespace have developed a strong relationship of mutual trust. This new satellite will be the 28th Japanese satellite launched by Arianespace.

Arianespace Chairman and CEO Stéphane Israël said: “We are very proud and very honored to once again be chosen by loyal and prestigious customer SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, the largest operator in the Asia-Pacific region. This is the ultimate mark of confidence, and clear recognition of the quality and excellence of Arianespace’s launch Service & Solutions.”
