Radio Pakistan is going to inaugurate three landmark projects‚
which include an Earth Station‚ Digital Satellite News Gathering
(DSNG)‚ Satellite and Internet Streaming of External and World
Services today (Monday).
The Earth-Satellite Station will ensure reliable‚ smooth‚
interruption-free‚ good quality networking and transmission of
Radio Pakistan's services country-wide. The satellite
transmission will not only be used for networking purpose but
will also be available to the listeners on satellite receivers
in 38 countries located in South Asia‚ Middle-East‚ Africa and
Europe.
The Earth-Satellite Station has been established at National
Broadcasting House‚ Islamabad‚ on turnkey basis. FM-101‚
National Broadcasting Service‚ FM-93‚ News‚ World Service and
External Services will be available on Satellite. In future more
channels will be added for the listeners across the globe.
The DSNG system installed in a mobile van is based on the
most advanced satellite technology for efficient outdoor
broadcast coverage‚ including sports and news coverage. It would
now be possible to cover events taking place at any location at
any time due to mobility‚ easy access to remote areas and
satellite transmission.
The DSNG van has the capability of two way remote
communication from and to the outdoor broadcast (OB) site. A
mini studio on wheels is capable of recording‚ editing and
transmitting radio programmes. Presently‚ Radio Pakistan is
using conventional technology for OB coverage‚ employing
telephone lines.
The inaugural ceremony would be broadcast live on national
hookup‚ which will be relayed by all medium-wave stations‚
FM-101 and Medium Wave transmitters of National Broadcasting
Service (The current affairs channel of Radio Pakistan) besides
FM-93. Besides‚ its audio and video will be streamlined live.
