Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Receives $1.7 Million Equipment Order from Mobile Operator in Asia
July 12, 2012
Comtech EF Data Corp., received a $1.7 million equipment order from a mobile network operator in Asia. The order included Comtech EF Data’s Modems and RF Products, and RAN Optimization by its subsidiary, Memotec. The products will support the upgrade and expansion of a satellite-based mobile backhaul network.
The operator will deploy Comtech EF Data’s CDM-625 Advanced Satellite Modems and Memotec’s CX-U Series RAN Optimization at new sites to expand their current network and at existing sites to add network optimization. The CDM-625 Advanced Satellite Modem combines advanced forward error correction with DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier bandwidth compression for maximum savings under all conditions. DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier, based on Raytheon Applied Signal Technology's patented “Adaptive Cancellation” technology, allows transmit and receive carriers of a duplex link to share the same transponder space. The combination of advanced technologies enables users to minimize OPEX/CAPEX and maximize throughput/availability without using additional transponder resources.
The CX-U Series brings together a flexible access device and mobile backhaul traffic optimization, offering a variety of backhaul interfaces and transmission options. The CX-U offers Abis/Ater optimization, 2G/3G aggregation, DCME voice trunking optimization, TDM Pseudowire, all over IP, Frame Relay or MLPPP protocol support. Several models were ordered, including the CX-U 1010, the CX-U 1220 and the CX-U 1280. The Carrier-in-Carrier and the CX-U Series RAN Optimization deliver significant OPEX savings for customers with no degradation in quality. Mobile network operators and service providers globally have widely adopted this market-leading solution.
Both indoor and outdoor models of Comtech EF Data’s frequency conversion RF Products were also ordered, specifically the LPOD Block Up Converter, the UT-4505 Up Converter and the DT-4503 Down Converter. Providing frequency conversion for outdoor environments, the LPOD is rugged, weatherproof and designed to withstand harsh conditions. The rack-mountable UT-4505 and the DT-4503 units are the ultimate in high-performance and cost-effective frequency conversion.
“By leveraging our best in class optimization technologies, this mobile network operator can facilitate a sustainable and profitable network expansion,” commented Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp.
