Conventional Subscriber Phone Services On a Class 5 SIP Softswitch Remotely-Based Enterprise
Whilst Pactel International has maintained its wholesale platform for the carrier-based business, the increased need for voice services in the corporate space, particularly in the resource sector, has prompted their decision to procure a Porta SIP platform. The new system allows for provisioning of conventional subscriber phone services, providing mobile workers with the office-like telephony environment at any remote location of the Pacific region.
The new Class 5 SIP Softswitch offers an enhanced calling hosted IPPBX or IP Centrex feature set, expected of today’s telephony services. These features include multi-party conferencing, unified messaging, follow-me call calling and a Fax to Email function. Rapid installation with the plug-and-play component at a customer site is ensured with service pre-provisioning via Pactel’s core network.
The Porta SIP platform offers full integration of telephony with the web, mail and other communication portals, ensuring maximum compatibility with the applications used by the resource sector. The services can now be delivered via converged IP Access to specific sites, or across multiple sites to replace or complement existing equipment.
“Connectivity challenges are not new to the Pacific resources industries, which are typically based in remote locations which lack infrastructure”, said Trevor Harris, VP Telephony Services, Pactel International. “The recent upgrade will let us bring first-world integrated telephony services to the remotely located exploration sites scattered throughout the region”, Mr Harris added.
