Newsat Signs $40 Million Contract For Jabiru-1 Satellite
Australia’s satellite company, announces today the signing of a three year satellite capacity contract with Quicklink Communications Limited. Quicklink Communications is a leading Middle Eastern telecommunications provider delivering enterprise-class services to governments and corporations across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The commitment is for the purchase of US$40.2 million of transmission capacity on the Jabiru-1 satellite over three years.
The Jabiru-1 Ka-band satellite capacity purchased by Quicklink Communications will serve a range of high demand regions within the Middle East and Africa, including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria and Egypt.
In commenting on the multi-million dollar contract with Quicklink
Communications, Adrian Ballintine, NewSat Founder and CEO said:
“Demand for satellite communications across the Middle East and Africa continues to grow exponentially. Quicklink Communications provides premium telecommunication services across these high demand regions and will use Jabiru-1’s high powered Ka-band capacity to unlock Internet, voice and data services that are unavailable today.”
“This US$40 million contract is another key step forward in the launch of Jabiru-1 and follows the recently signed 3A Technology US$134 million contract and TrustComm’s US$105 million contract. The three cornerstone contracts totalling US$279 million, will underpin the export credit agency backed debt financing, to build and launch the satellite. NewSat’s vision of becoming a global satellite operator is on the verge of being realised.”
