THAICOM Announces 2010 Results

THAICOM Public Company Limited reported its revenues from sales of goods and rendering of services for 2010 ending December 31st was Baht 6.7 billion. Revenues from IPSTAR bandwidth service increased 38% and Internet and media businesses increased 21.3%. The share of profit of associates in 2010 increased 36.0% from the previous year, even though the telephone businesses decreased from 2009.

 

Revenues from the transponder leasing service and related services of Thaicom 2 and 5 satellites were reported to be Baht 2.25 billion; a decrease of 4.3% or Baht 2.35 million from 2009. This was mainly due to the stronger baht compared to US dollar in 2010.  However, the transponder leasing service continues to grow due to the continued demand for satellite television. The television channels on the Thaicom satellite increased from 283 channels in 2009 to 358 channels in 2010. Revenues from Thaicom 4 satellite bandwidth was baht 2.36 billion, an increase of Baht 192 million or 8.9% compared to Baht 2.17 billion due to the growth of service revenues of Baht 449 million or 38.0% in Japan, India, Australia, and New Zealand.

 

Revenues from telephone businesses in Cambodia (Mfone Co., Ltd.) and Laos (Lao Telecommunications Co., Ltd.) were Baht 1.45 billion; a decrease of 32.3% from 2009 due to strong competition in the market in Cambodia. As of the end of 2010, the total number of mobile subscribers for both markets was 2,382,214. The number of prepaid subscribers of LTC increased 22.2% compared to 2009.

 

Revenues from Internet access and media businesses were Baht 649 million, an increase of baht 114 million or 21.3% compared to 2009. At the end of 2010, total sales of DTV dish sets in Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos were 945,164 units, an increase of 352,278 units from 2009. In addition, CS LOXINFO Plc. also announced it would pay a dividend for 2010 of Baht 0.50 per share, of which CSL has already paid an interim dividend of Baht 0.25 per share to its shareholders.

 

 According to THAICOM consolidated financial statement, the Company reported its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) as Baht 1.98 billion. The Company recorded a net loss of Baht 789 million. THAICOM’s Debt-to-Equity Ratio was 0.57, a slightly increase from 0.56 for 2009. The Company’s net cash inflow from operating activities for 2010 was Baht 1.84 billion. As of December 31st, 2010, THAICOM reported an ending cash of Baht 1.27 billion.
