ORBCOMM’s Partner Maerospace Awarded Multi-Year Contract for Canadian Government
ORBCOMM Inc. announced that its Canadian partner Maerospace, an industry expert in advanced data analytics, has won a multi-year contract with the Government of Canada. Through its Canadian subsidiary SkyWave, ORBCOMM will provide satellite Automatic Identification System (AIS) data used for ship tracking and other maritime navigational and safety efforts in conjunction with Maerospace’s TimeCaster™ technology to the Government of Canada for monitoring Canadian and global maritime traffic.
The Government of Canada contract award was the result of a competitive procurement process among providers and integrators of space-based AIS data service and is funded for one year with one-year options, which could potentially extend the contract for a total of three years. The initial task order for this new contract received by Maerospace is more than three and a half times the value of the previous contract.
“We look forward to partnering with Maerospace to deliver comprehensive and timely AIS data and robust analytics to the Government of Canada to support their maritime domain awareness efforts,” said Marc Eisenberg, ORBCOMM’s Chief Executive Officer. “We have a large presence in Canada with approximately 150 employees, and this contract is a significant win for ORBCOMM that reaffirms our position as the industry’s preferred provider of satellite AIS data.”
“The Government of Canada contract is an exciting opportunity for ORBCOMM and Maerospace to leverage our advanced data collection and analytics capabilities to provide a best-in-class satellite AIS maritime data service,” said Eric Meger, Founder and CEO of Maerospace. “We are committed to providing our Canadian customer with a complete situational picture of vessel activity worldwide to help make their borders more secure and their environmental responses more effective.”
