Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic) announced that Satcom Direct (SD) will be the first business aviation Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Panasonic’s global business aviation connectivity service.
With prioritized traffic and bandwidth optimized for the business aviation market, Panasonic offers a superior customer experience. Panasonic’s open architecture network means they can easily scale their worldwide satellite network to meet growing bandwidth needs of this key market.
The company is already deploying high throughput satellite (HTS) service and is also designing extreme throughput satellite (XTSTM) capacity to ensure the best possible experience for this market.
David Bruner, Vice President of Global Communications Services said: “For business customers, staying connected is more than just email. With SD, we are changing the game in business aviation communications.
“Everywhere they fly, these demanding customers will experience higher connectivity speeds and more reliability than other services. They will also be able to enjoy three channels of global live television including live news and the world’s most popular sporting events.”
Scott Hamilton, CSO for SD, adds: “We are proud to have been chosen by Panasonic as the first value added reseller for its global service. With our proven leadership in connectivity, renowned customer focus and understanding of the market, we will have the ability to deliver high-throughput connectivity to our customers across the world with Panasonic’s worldwide footprint.”
Leveraging Panasonic’s high performance and scalable global network, SD will be able to offer business aviation customers services such as VoIP calling with improved call quality, geofencing services with boundary notifications and alerts, and SD’s popular GlobalVT which allows customers to make calls and send text messages using their personal device, from any altitude.
Business aviation customers will also have access to SD’s operations system, SD Pro. SD Pro is an integrated data management platform that provides flight departments with critical information such as aircraft data usage, secure cockpit and cabin connectivity, and operations services like SD Flightlogs, SD Flight Tracker, scheduling and a secure data solution, the SD Private Network.
Panasonic’s global business aviation connectivity solution leverages the same network that has been successfully proven in commercial aviation and is active on over 1,000 aircraft today. It is available worldwide and covers an unmatched 99.6 percent of the world’s flight routes.
