DataPath Announces Senior Leadership Expansion to Help Drive Growth and Innovation

Dec. 22, 2015

DataPath, Inc. has appointed two experienced executives to key positions. Carsten Drachmann has been named Vice President and General Manager for DataPath's Portable Satellite Terminals business unit based in Sweden, and Dr. George Tong will serve as DataPath's Vice President of Global Engineering and Technology.

Mr. Drachmann has a long track record of success in commercial markets and extensive international business experience. Over the past 25 years, he has delivered large-scale revenue, profit and market share growth for companies in the telecommunications and entertainment industries. This change in leadership demonstrates DataPath's renewed commitment to its Sweden-based Portable Satellite Terminals business as an integral component of the company's overall long-term growth strategy.  Prior DataPath, Mr. Drachmann served in a number of senior leadership positions with telecommunications giant Nokia, in a range of roles from product development, to sales and marketing, to running regional operations.  With his extensive commercial experience, Drachmann will help guide DataPath's diversification into more commercial markets.

A 30-year veteran of the satellite industry, Dr. Tong has been instrumental in the development of a comprehensive range of antennas for Fixed Satellite Services (FSS), as well as Communications-On-The-Pause (COTP) and Communications-On-The-Move (COTM) terminals for the Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) market. Particularly notable is his leadership in the design of an innovative low profile, high-gain semi-phased array antenna for COTM application. Prior to DataPath Dr. Tong held senior engineering leadership positions with global system manufacturers including Cobham Satcom, ASC Signal, and Andrew Corporation.  The newly created VP of Global Engineering & Technology role demonstrates DataPath's dedication to product quality and innovation.

"DataPath has made tremendous strides in revitalizing the company and re-investing in our product lines. Moving forward, we are focused on driving commercial market growth, expanding to new markets, and exploring new innovations in remote communications technologies," said David Myers, President and CEO of DataPath. "Carsten and George will be great additions to our executive team and will help us to diversify the business and introduce exciting new technologies to the market."
