DIRECTV Latin America: Successful Launch of DLA-1

DIRECTV Latin America announced  the successful launch of a new satellite payload, DLA-1, that will enhance the entertainment experience for millions of customers served by DIRECTV’s PanAmericana division beginning in the first half of 2015.

“The launch of this new satellite will significantly enhance the entertainment experience that has transformed DIRECTV into the preferred pay TV service in the region,” said Jacopo Bracco, President of DIRECTV PanAmericana. “DLA-1 will also enable us to implement a long-term development plan to best meet the interests and needs of current and future customers in the region in the coming years.”

DLA-1 will be located in the same position as the current DIRECTV PanAmericana satellite (Galaxy 3C), 95ºW so subscribers from Argentina, Chile, Caribbean, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela will not have to make any changes in the orientation of their antenna or to their set-top boxes when the new satellite begins operating.
