Aug. 14, 2013
ViaSat Inc. was recently awarded a Lot 14
order valued at $21.7 million for Multifunctional Information
Distribution System - Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVT) for the U.S.
Government, Australia, Oman, and Thailand. The orders resulted from
a competitive procurement through the Space and Naval Warfare
Systems Command (SPAWAR) and were awarded under the MIDS Indefinite
Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract initially executed in March
2010. These MIDS-LVT airborne terminals are for U.S. Government
aircraft as well as over 50% to FMS sales.
"This Lot 14 award recognizes our
exceptional delivery and terminal maintenance performance," said Jay
Kaufman, general manager, ViaSat Tactical Data Links. "The award
also extends our high-quality terminals and support services to our
growing family of international customers."
MIDS-LVT forms the backbone of the Link-16
network across the US DOD and the international coalition.
Core terminal functions include not only Link-16 data, but secure
voice, and TACAN capabilities on select terminals.
