iDirect Government Technologies  announced that its iDX 2.3.1, Evolution series line cards and remotes achieved a Level 1 validation against Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2: Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules. FIPS 140-2 validation is a requirement for any cryptographic product that is used in a U.S. government agency network such as hardware and software that encrypts and decrypts data and conducts other cryptographic functions.

FIPS 140-2 establishes the Cryptographic Module Validation Program as a joint effort of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Canada’s Communications Security Establishment. Validation under this program is extremely comprehensive and provides stringent third-party assurance of security claims on any product containing cryptography that may be used by a government agency. iGT partnered with Corsec Security, Inc. to attain government validation.
