GMV restructures its Space
business in the USA
11 April 2013
GMV
is restructuring and selling its U.S. Institutional
Aerospace business while retaining its Commercial Space
business.
As part of this restructuring, GMV has established a new
company, GMV Innovating Solutions, Inc. based in Rockville,
MD to serve as the new GMV headquarters in the USA. GMV
Innovating Solutions, Inc. will carry on GMV’s current
business activities in the Commercial Space market building
on the legacy already established over the past nine years.
GMV Innovating Solutions, Inc. will also be home to other
GMV business activities in the IT and Transportation
markets, already present in the U.S.
The former management team of GMV USA has acquired GMV’s
business activities in the U.S. Institutional Aerospace
market. The resulting entity, named MetiSpace Technologies,
Inc. is an independent, woman-owned small business
with an exclusive agreement to be the reseller of GMV’s
products for satellite ground control and mission planning
for the U.S. Institutional Aerospace market.
With this operation, GMV will be able to leverage its
integrated worldwide resources to better serve the
Commercial Space market. This will make GMV even more
competitive as it aims to maintain its position as # 1
worldwide provider of satellite ground control systems for
Commercial telecom operators.
Classified as a woman-owned small business, MetiSpace
Technologies, Inc. will build upon the more than 40 missions
supported by GMV USA, providing cost effective and
innovative solutions to numerous critical U.S. government
missions such as the Tracking and Data Relay Satellites
(TDRS), Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM), NASA’s Lunar
Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO); and the Geostationary
Operational Environmental Satellite – R Series (GOES-R).
“Since GMV created a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary in
2004, we have experienced a solid growth in both the U.S.
Institutional and Commercial Space markets. This step will
help us keep growing in all our businesses in North America”
said Jesús Serrano, the CEO of GMV worldwide.
“GMV has been a tremendous technology company to have
worked with. It is an honor and a privilege to continue on
the path that GMV empowered our team to start on nearly a
decade ago. We are very excited by the new directions and
opportunities that this transaction opens up for us.” said
Theresa Beech, former GMV USA President and new CEO and
President of MetiSpace Technologies.
The strategic partnership between GMV and MetiSpace
Technologies, Inc. is expected to strengthen the market
position of both companies in the U.S. Institutional
Aerospace marketplace.
