Spacecom announced that it has
been awarded two contracts by
DRS Technical Services, Inc.,
including one for C-band
capacity on AMOS-5 and a second
for Ku-band satellite capacity
on AMOS-3. The contracts are for
the delivery of commercial
satellite communications
capabilities to the U.S.
Department of Defense (DoD).
“We have worked together with
DRS Technical Services since
2007 to provide powerful and
dependable satellite capacity
for DoD. Our AMOS-3 and AMOS-5
satellites offer services to
U.S. customers requiring reach
into the Middle East and back to
Europe,” said
Drew Marks, Vice President of
Sales, North America at
Spacecom. “These two new
contracts are testimony to our
team's fine work and the
superior solutions we provide.”
DoD
is using capacity from
Spacecom’s AMOS-3 located at 4°W
and AMOS-5 positioned at 17°E.
The capacity enables reliable
two-way communications with the
U.S.
Armed Forces stationed in
Europe who are training for
missions in the Middle East.
“For U.S. forces and troops
stationed worldwide maintaining
satellite communications is
absolutely mission-critical,”
said Jim Scott,
Vice President and General
Manager, Global Enterprise
Solutions at DRS Technical
Services.
“Together with Spacecom, we help
DoD maximize value by offering
communications solutions that
meet
our customers need for
cost-effective and adaptable
commercial satellite bandwidth
services.”
