ITC Global Completes Successful Acquisition of Broadpoint's Satellite Division
Nov 09, 2011
ITC Global (ITC), has successfully completed the acquisition of the satellite operations of Broadpoint LLC, an established provider of communications services to the oil & gas sector in the Gulf of Mexico. The acquisition unites Broadpoint's industry experience and established customer base with ITC's global coverage and resources to create a comprehensive VSAT communications solution for the oil & gas market.
The acquisition firmly establishes ITC as one of the world's leading satellite service providers in the oil & gas industry. The company manages a global VSAT network across more than 25 satellite beams and nine teleports, covering every geography in which oil & gas companies operate. Broadpoint's customers will be able to access ITC's worldwide service, technology advisors and managed support. Broadpoint will retain its core cellular telecommunications business, which operates the only ubiquitous cellular voice and data network in the Gulf of Mexico.
"This acquisition enables ITC Global to provide complete satellite coverage in the Gulf of Mexico, utilizing five satellite beams from four geographically dispersed teleports," said John Morganti, ITC Global's vice president and general manager.
"Acquiring Broadpoint supports our strategy of enhancing our already strong presence in the global resource segment," said Joseph Spytek, ITC Global's chief executive officer. "The combination of Broadpoint's satellite business and ITC Global provides oil & gas companies with a high-performance solution that can scale with their business to address critical communications needs."
