Globecomm Awarded Multiple Contracts Valued At Approximately $4 Million to Provide US Government End-Users with Ku and X Band Aeronautical Services

September 29, 2011

Globecomm Systems Inc. has launched its Airborne managed network services offering for broadband access to airborne platforms. Globecomm has been awarded multiple contracts valued at approximately $4 million to provide US Government end-users with Ku and X band aeronautical services.

Combining its global teleports, satellite capacity, dedicated terrestrial backbone, Network Operations Center and 24x7 Help Desk, Globecomm will deliver the same quality voice, data and video services and support to aircraft that it provides to land- and maritime-based end-users. These services enable the US Government to transmit large amounts of data to and from aircraft for multiple applications. The X-band services are provided through Globecomm’s commercial X-band facility in Western Europe; Ku-band services are provided from the Globecomm teleport facilities in the US and Europe. All services are connected directly to customers or to the Globecomm- hosted Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) via its secure global terrestrial network.

Dwight Hunsicker, Vice President of Government Business Development, said: "Supporting our customers with the reach of our satellite managed network services footprint to the frontier of the stratosphere represents the breadth and depth of Globecomm’s capabilities."
