Comtech EF Data Corp., was recently awarded $4.8 million in satellite communication equipment orders. A mobile operator in Latin America will deploy the equipment to upgrade and expand their existing mobile backhaul network and to support high-speed trunking.

These orders included Comtech EF Data's Advanced VSAT Solutions which incorporate advanced technologies and a large product portfolio that features functionality which enables the most efficient, cost-effective, reliable and scalable backhaul for 2G/3G networks. The Advanced VSAT can also reduce power consumption at the remote sites, thereby minimizing the OPEX and CAPEX for on-grid and off-grid locations. Products include the CDM-800 Gateway Router, the CDD-880 Multi-Receiver Router, the CDM-840 Remote Router and the CDM-625 Advanced Satellite Modem. The operator will utilize DoubleTalk(R) Carrier-in-Carrier(R) bandwidth compression, to optimize their satellite links -- maximizing throughput without using additional transponder resources and minimizing operating expenses.

Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp., commented, "We are extremely pleased to receive these significant orders from our customer. These orders are a testament to our ability to provide an advanced technological solution with high-performance optimization in a region where satellite capacity is scarce."
