18 April 2011
Spacenet Inc., has acquired CICAT Networks, Inc., a nationwide provider of broadband network solutions based in Chantilly, Virginia. CICAT Networks uses a network deployment approach which is vendor neutral and thus optimized for the customer. Its methodology has a long and proven track record delivering value added services for businesses with multi-site locations. The acquisition of CICAT Networks represents a milestone in Spacenet’s strategy to expand its business in the broadband managed network services market.
"The combined Spacenet and CICAT Networks organization creates a new level of network capabilities and functionality ideal for multi-site business and enterprise customers across the U.S." said Spacenet CEO Andreas Georghiou. "This enables Spacenet to increase its addressable market substantially, and offer this market an expanded range of connectivity options and managed network service solutions. The acquisition demonstrates our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our customers and adapting to a changing competitive landscape in the market.”
Over the past few years, Spacenet has expanded its market focus beyond traditional satellite connectivity to incorporate multiple broadband access options including DSL, MPLS and wireless. The expanded focus has increased Spacenet’s ability to provide new services to customers and further leverage its core network management, call center and field services capabilities.
“We’re truly excited about the opportunities that being part of the Spacenet team presents to our customers, and our employees,” said CICAT Networks CEO Brad Wise. “The acquisition empowers us to combine CICAT’s 18 years of broadband-provisioning innovation with Spacenet’s three decades of leadership in high-performance communications solutions. I think both Spacenet and CICAT customers will quickly benefit from the results: a customer-focused company that combines vast experience and a broad range of service offerings with the agility, enthusiasm and energy of a start-up organization. The bottom line will be faster, more flexible and affordable networks that match our customers’ specific requirements, and exceed their expectations."
