Stratos Government Services is Awarded FCSA Contract

March 14

Stratos Government Services Inc. has been awarded a General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 70 FCSA contract to provide commercial satellite communications (COMSATCOM) products and services to the U.S. Government.

The FCSA (Future COMSATCOM Services Acquisition) award enables U.S. Dept. of Defense (DoD) and federal agencies to directly access the secure Stratos Government Network (SGN). SGN is designed specifically for U.S. Government users of Inmarsat mobile satellite services.

SGN is an Information Assurance (IA)-compliant commercial architecture - operated by U.S. personnel - that military users can rely upon to minimize OPSEC exposure while deploying Inmarsat services to fulfill mission objectives on the ground, at sea and in the air. SGSI is the only Inmarsat Distribution Partner to offer this type of network. Government end-users now can access the SGN directly or through SGSI Channel Partners.

"Our portfolio of mobile satellite solutions is designed to meet the U.S. Government's IA and readiness requirements," said SGSI President and CEO Bob Roe. "The FCSA award provides a contract to access these services quickly and improves mission readiness and security. Direct access to the SGN provides our customers with a wider range of integrated commercial satcom solutions, at the industry's most competitive prices."

FCSA is jointly managed by the GSA and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and replaces the expiring DSTS-G, Inmarsat DITCO and SATCOM-II contracts.

Using GSA Special Item Numbers (SINs) established specifically for satellite communications, SGSI now can offer satellite hardware, engineering services, technology services, transponded bandwidth and managed subscription services as follows: Hardware SIN 132-8 (Inmarsat and Iridium); Maintenance Support SIN 132-12; and Subscribed Services SIN 132-55 (Inmarsat and Iridium).
