GlobaLogix Acquires Blast Energy Services Satellite Division

5 January 2010

Houston-based oilfield control and automation company GlobaLogix has announced the close of its acquisition of the satellite services division of Blast Energy Services. GlobaLogix’ first acquisition, the transaction will allow the company to expand its unique business model, which offers energy companies a comprehensive suite of services supporting the recovery and analysis of data from the field through to the corporate back office.

“A key element of GlobaLogix’ success to date has been the complete range of services we provide,” said James Hamilton, Chairman, President and CEO, GlobaLogix. “Where companies have previously had to seek out multiple vendors to handle wellhead automation, remote monitoring, SCADA and back office reporting, GlobaLogix gives them a single point of content with knowledge of every part of the system. Adding Blast Energy Services’ satellite division to this equation will allow us to take this model further, integrating satellite communications into the design and installation of data gathering and reporting systems.”

Blast Energy Services’ satellite division creates communications solutions for the energy industry that support SCADA networks for pipelines, wellhead automation, drilling rigs and business continuity applications. The division’s clients include several major gas pipeline companies and oilfield service companies. In addition to providing satellite bandwidth, the company delivers voice, fax and Internet connectivity to remote locations and provides round-the-clock management from the company’s Network Operations Center in Houston.

Under the agreement, GlobaLogix will take over the division’s existing client base, contracts and inventory. GlobaLogix will also take over operation of the Network Operations Center.
