Hughes New Managed Services Architecture Integrates Voice, Data and Video over Affordable Broadband
14 December 2010
Hughes Network Systems, LLC announced the availability of its new managed services suite for enterprises. Employing Hughes ActiveQoS technology, the unique offering delivers superior performance of converged voice, data, and video applications over affordable broadband networks for any number of enterprise sites.
"Until now, IT managers at enterprises needed to invest in expensive leased line MPLS solutions to enjoy the benefits of converging their data, voice, and video traffic in a common network," said Mike Tippets, vice president, Hughes Solutions Group. "It was thought that Voice over IP could not be integrated with video and data over affordable broadband. Hughes ActiveQoS changes all that."
Hughes ActiveQoS is a new network optimization technology from Hughes that enables 'MPLS-like' performance over high-speed, affordable DSL and cable broadband connections.
Hughes managed networks deliver the performance our customers require," said senior vice president of North America, Mike Cook. "They no longer have to pay leased-line prices to get the performance, reliability, and security they need."
Hughes ActiveQoS is integrated into Hughes' network operations center and customer premise equipment. Hughes ActiveQoS adapts to traffic demands using innovative optimization methods, ensuring that real-time, latency sensitive applications, such as voice and video, get through no matter what data is present. As a result, voice and video traffic run smoothly with minimal packet loss and jitter.
Unlike competing solutions, Hughes can deliver combined VoIP, video training, virtual terminal services, and other applications that previously weren't viable over ordinary broadband. The new multi-transport architecture enables Hughes to tailor a WAN solution to each customer's unique requirements. Enterprises with hundreds or thousands of locations can select the most cost-effective and available broadband solution for each site -- DSL, cable, 3G/4G wireless, or satellite -- all integrated into one seamless, enterprise-wide network managed by Hughes. In addition, Hughes can provide a diverse-path redundancy option that delivers high-availability at each location using different broadband technologies ensuring no single point of failure.
Retail, hospitality, restaurant, convenience store, healthcare, and other enterprises with hundreds or thousands of locations can benefit from the new Hughes offering. Examples of applications include VoIP, digital signage, self-serve kiosks, and video employee learning centers. Enterprises can now utilize their WANs to meet their most important business needs, such as cost containment, loss prevention, workforce management, and providing a better customer experience. A range of security options are available to support PCI, regulatory, and security policies. Millions of dollars of commerce flow over the secure private and virtual private networks (VPNs) that Hughes has been delivering to many of the world's biggest brands for decades.
Hughes Managed Network Services with ActiveQoS are available now. Hughes is exhibiting at the National Retail Federation 2011 annual show, January 10 - 12 at the Javits Convention Center, New York, NY, exhibit booth #2717. Hughes Managed Network Services with Active QoS will be on display as part of "The Store of the Future" powered by Hughes exhibit.
