Comtech Wins $1.9 Million in Orders for Performance Enhancement Proxies

Nov 8, 2010

Comtech EF Data Corp., obtained $1.9 million in orders from U.S. government agencies for its turboIP-G2 Performance Enhancement Proxies. The products will upgrade networks supporting tactical communications at fixed sites and in communications-at-the-halt applications.

The turboIP-G2 Performance Enhancement Proxies combat the inherent challenges of transmitting TCP over satellite links. Transparently accelerating TCP sessions at speeds of 15 or 45 Mbps, the turboIP-G2 increases throughput over satellite links while requiring minimal topology changes. It can function as a hub device or at a remote site. The units are designed with the most effective wide area network optimization features tailored to address the unique challenges of satellite communications. Additionally, advanced compression techniques are used to minimize data traversing the satellite link.

"Upgrading networks with the powerful feature set of the turboIP-G2 will enable these government agencies to increase satellite link throughput and optimize user experience," said Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp.
