November 8, 2010
Advantech Wireless Broadband, a Quebec-based manufacturer of satellite communications systems for use in U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) owned teleports, US and foreign military establishments worldwide announced today that Systems Integrator Agile Communications has selected and successfully delivered the Advantech DVB-RCS/S2 hub and remote terminals to the U.S. DoD for in-theatre use.
Agile Communications selected the Advantech DVB-RCS/S2 hub due to its advanced features, redundancy, product performance, security capabilities and open standards-based compliance. The DVB-RCS/S2 Hub and Remote Terminals are ideally suited for forward recon voice, data and full motion video. The Advantech solution also offers “full redundancy”, S2 modulation to further reduce bandwidth, dual frequency receivers, low power operation, and Space Communication Protocols Standard (SCPS) compliance. In addition, the ability to manage multiple data rate capabilities on-the-fly allows remotes to log on at a lower data rate to insure healthy link status prior to automatically ramping up to the full bandwidth allowed by the hub.
“The important nature and usage of this network proves once again that Advantech’s networking technology is the market leader,” said Joe Zerucha, Vice President of Global Sales for Advantech. “We are proud to provide cost effective solutions as well as leading edge technology on a flexible platform to meet the needs of this critical deployment.”
