Comtech EF Data Acquires Stampede Technologies

Comtech EF Data Corporation completed the acquisition of Stampede® Technologies, Inc., developer of the FX Series WAN optimization and application acceleration platforms. The acquisition enables Comtech EF Data to further expand its Wide Area Network (WAN) optimization product offerings for commercial applications. Leveraging Stampede’s award-winning technologies, Comtech EF Data can deliver increased value to its customers by further reducing required bandwidth and better utilizing satellite links.

The Stampede FX Series combines both one-sided application delivery and two-sided WAN optimization into a single platform with the added flexibility of remote side WAN optimization options. The FX Series delivers unprecedented application performance, optimization, transparency, availability, and management for existing networks. The products utilize Stampede’s Application Delivery Controller (ADC) and WAN Optimization Controller (WOC) technologies. These leading-edge technologies reduce the number of channel bits via multiple forms of compression and minimize IP congestion on satellite links, addressing commonly encountered challenges of limited satellite bandwidth, transport protocol delay and inefficiencies, and application protocol delay and inefficiencies.

Typical users for the Stampede Technologies FX Series are Internet Service Providers (ISPs), enterprises, offshore/maritime, and telecommunications operators. The products are intended to support high-speed content delivery, HTTP and TCP optimization and acceleration, Internet access, and corporate networks.
