Newtec
announced
a
multi-million
dollar
order
from
a
major
government
prime
contractor
in
the
United
States
for
its
FlexACM®
technology
for
IP
trunking
satellite
links.
The
installation,
comprising
Elevation
EL470
Satellite
IP
modems
with
FlexACM
technology
in
1:1
and
1:4
redundant
configurations,
will
form
the
core
of
an
entirely
new
infrastructure
for
the
project.

of

in
its
transition
to
become
the
system
of
choice
across
the
international

FlexACM
combines
a
range
of
cutting

Adaptive
Coding

Modulation
(ACM),
traffic
shaping,
payload
compression
and
IP
acceleration

highly
efficient
way.
The
integrated
unique
patent-pending
Noise
and
Distortion
Estimator
(NoDE)
provides
accurate
monitoring
of
the
satellite
link
quality
and
enables
optimum
usage
of
satellite
transponders.
In
addition
to
on
average
doubling
the
capacity
of
an
existing
link,
FlexACM
guarantees
the
highest
availability
of
link
reception
even
during
heavy
rain
fade,
making
it
ideal
to
use
on
Ku-band
and
Ka-band
links.

Elevation
IP
modems
are
designed
for
the
efficient
transmission
of
IP
over
satellite
at
rates
from
256
Kbps
to
160
Mbps
in
full
compliance
with
DVB-S2
standard
(including
16APSK
and
32APSK),
and
support
a
wide
range
of
encapsulation
protocols,
such
as
data
piping,
MPE,
ULE
and
XPE
(Extended
Performance
Encapsulation).
They
can
be
used
in
point-to-point
or
point-to-multipoint
architecture
in
one
way
configurations
with
terrestrial
return
channels
or
two
way
configurations
with
return
channel
over
satellite.
