Agile Communication Systems Selects XipLink for
Military System Application
July 12, 2010
Agile Communication Systems has selected the XipLink optimization technology for
a current U.S. military network application. The Afghanistan-based network will
use a combination of XipLink’s highly portable and small-form-factor XipStick
devices for remote deployment and the company’s XA-10K product for high capacity
and redundancy at the hub. With this combination of advanced optimization
technology in place Agile Communication Systems will see bandwidth throughput
increases of more than four times. The XipLink technology will be deployed as
part of Agile Communication’s MST-100 Portable Satellite Terminal kit.
There were a few key determining factors in Agile Communication’s decision to
select XipLink. First was the company’s standards-based software development.
XipLink’s technology adheres to the Space Communications Protocol Standards
(SCPS), which is critical for product interoperability within government
networking applications. In addition, the portability and compact form-factor of
the XipStick product, which is approximately the size of a small cell phone,
played heavily into Agile Communication’s decision. Combining these important
features with the industry’s leading optimization technology made for the
winning solution within this critical network application.
“We are extremely excited to be teaming up with XipLink for this important
networking solution,” said Dan Makinster, President of Agile Communication
Systems. “The amount of increased throughput combined with the other critical
factors of this advanced technology really make it the best solution available.
In-theater communications of this type are of the utmost importance in nature
and being able to build and deploy the most dependable and efficient solution is
paramount.”
XipLink’s XA-Series appliances, range in scale from 2 Mbps and 50 connections
for use in small office locations to redundant high performance systems
operating at 155 Mbps and 30,000 simultaneous connections. XipLink appliances
also support key value-added options such as a factory installed dynamic web
cache, IPSec integrated security software and XiPix lossy compression for
outbound web optimization.
“XipLink is pleased to have been selected by Agile through such a thorough
review process,” said Jack Waters, CEO of XipLink. “Agile’s selection based on
factors such as our proven testing by DoD agencies, a lightweight, highly mobile
solution and efficient implementation characteristics, highlights XipLink’s
focus to develop the best technology available.”
