May 25

Hughes Network Systems, LLC  was awarded a contract by the Colorado State Parks, a division of the State's Department of Natural Resources, to provide broadband Internet service via its SPACEWAY® 3 satellite system, enabling primary network connectivity to support operations at 15 state park sites. The contract, awarded through the U.S. General Services Administration's (GSA) Cooperative Purchasing Program, is for a period of one year with two option years.

"With over 11 million people visiting its parks and recreation programs each year, Colorado State Parks depends on reliable network connectivity to support its online reservation system, serve its customers, and manage facilities," said Tony Bardo, assistant vice president for Government Solutions at Hughes. "Some of these park facilities are in remote locations where terrestrial networks are either cost-prohibitive or non-existent. Hughes is honored to have been selected by Colorado State Parks to provide the primary broadband Internet services supporting the operations of these park sites, and to help bring more visitors to experience its incredible natural beauty."

Under the contract, Hughes is providing the following equipment and services via its SPACEWAY 3 satellite system:

  • Broadband Internet access
  • Voice, video, and data applications support
  • Site-to-site and site-to-data center connectivity
  • HN9000 broadband satellite routers
