Comcast
Media
Center
is
preparing
to
expand
the
reach
of
its
content
solutions
to
support
the
distribution
of
Latin
American
video
programming
into
the
North
American
video
market.
A
leading
North
American
provider
of
centralized
solutions
for
television
programming
networks
and
other
video
companies,
the
CMC’s
video
content
solutions
include
transmission
(satellite,
fiber,
IPTV),
network
origination
and
playout,
video
on
demand
distribution
(VOD),
live
events
distribution
and
disaster
recovery/business
continuity.

Media
Center’s
capabilities
include
a
35,000
square-foot
earth
station
with
36
dedicated
uplink
antennas
(C-band
and
Ku-band),
distribution
in
MPEG-2
and
MPEG-4,
visibility
into
the
Atlantic
and
Pacific
operating
regions
(AOR
and
POR)
and
access
to
satellites
reaching
most
continents.
The
CMC
also
provides
an
on-site
teleport
dedicated
to
occasional
transmission
that
can
support
72
simultaneous
satellite
or
fiber
feeds,
in
addition
to a
highly
flexible
and
configurable
network
origination
and
playout
facility
supporting
both
HD
and
SD
formats,
and
a
VOD
distribution
platform
that
delivers
more
than
9,000
VOD
assets
from
275
content
providers
per
month,
reaching
more
than
40
million
VOD-enabled
TV
households
in
the
U.S.
Other
CMC
capabilities
include
cross-platform
content
management
and
distribution
through
its
transcoding,
metadata
creation,
and
store-and-forward
services
to
support
delivery
to
broadband
and
mobile
platforms.
