Ducommun Announces New Contract Award to Support NASA’s Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) Program
1 February 2010
Ducommun Technologies, Inc. has received a new contract from Boeing Space & Intelligence Systems (NYSE: BA). The initial purchase order is for the design and manufacture of a new resolver to be used on the TDRS K/L satellite mission. This resolver will be required on future launches of TDRS satellites and is expected to be inserted on other programs. With this order, Ducommun adds another new design of a space-qualified resolver to its existing product family as well as broadening its business with Boeing.
DTI has been designing and manufacturing custom motion control devices for severe environments such as space and downhole oil exploration for over 30 years. Other recent contracts include motors and resolvers for the new NASA Frontiers Mission to Jupiter and the NASA NuStar program.
Anthony J. Reardon, president and chief executive officer of Ducommun, stated, “DTI has seen significant growth in its design and manufacturing motion control business, and we have also been increasing our engineering resources with the goal of offering complete systems such as solar array deployment assemblies (SADA). We continue to seek opportunities to broaden our scope of work by providing cost efficient custom engineered solutions. In this way, we intend to increase our penetration on important space programs while building a stronger partnership with our key customers.”
