Globecomm Supports Disaster Relief Efforts in Haiti

Globecomm Systems Inc. is in the process of tripling the current capacity for service in the Haiti region to support satellite based communications to assist humanitarian efforts and military support teams. The Company is also providing free services on specific networks to aid in the relief efforts in conjunction with their partners in the effort.

 

Specifically, Globecomm is working with non-profit aid agencies and multinational organizations, to reestablish communications between the rest of the world and Haiti, where the current network is non-operational. Globecomm is also working with U.S. military support teams, to add quick communication links to support their voice and data needs as their ground presence quickly expands. Globecomm also have staff on the ground working with local telecom companies to aid the re-establishment of their communication connectivity to support the rebuilding of the infrastructure.

 

Available within hours of notification, Globecomm aggregated quick deploy satellite terminals for voice and data communications assisting in early efforts to coordinate relief and disaster recovery and has network and satellite engineers on the ground to assist in helping to re-establish phone communications. Globecomm is currently working with SES' AMERICOM Government Services to provide free services to aid the relief efforts.
