The Australasia Satellite Forum - The Sothern Hemisphere’s foremost satellite event

 

Background

talk Satellite and CommsDay are convening a one-day Satellite Forum of world and domestic satellite leaders on the 21 April 2010 at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, Australia. The aim is to identify and initiate needed dialogue for the development of Satellite as a primary delivery mechanism for universal service purposes.  The Australasia Satellite Forum,  will provide a uniquely inclusive forum to address issues of urgent concern to governments, enterprise and consumer entities.

How development of a single National Broadband Network, using a space-ground merged architecture (including Internet Routing in Space), can create new service opportunities for government and consumers.  This will include the transition of satellite from Megahertz provider, through to the delivery of Megabits and eventually Megabytes, and how cloud-based services and high-speed on-demand broadband from space can drive new capabilities.  As an example, I will cover how high-speed broadband may have provided critical services during the Victorian bushfires, and how consumer mobility services may be delivered in the future.’
