Semtech
and Palo Alto Networks Secure Industrial
IoT with Zero Trust
Semtech Corporation
has completed a product integration with
Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation
Firewalls (NGFWs). Semtech joins an
extensive ecosystem of Palo Alto
Networks Technology Partners to deliver
intelligent and interoperable solutions
that help joint customers drive
resilience and compliance, securing the
most complex environments.
The integration
combines Semtech’s AirLink® secure edge
5G/LTE routers and network management
portfolio with Palo Alto Networks NGFWs
— industry-leading firewalls that
leverage machine learning for proactive
protection and comprehensive visibility
and control — along with Next-Generation
Trust Security (NGTS) and Zero Touch
Public Key Infrastructure (ZTPKI)
solutions to enable operators to scale
their connected infrastructure with
confidence while reducing complexity and
strengthening resilience against
evolving threats. As utilities and
critical infrastructure operators deploy
thousands of connected assets across
distributed networks, including wired,
cellular and satellite connections, this
Zero Trust solution secures these assets
at scale, solving a key challenge in
operational technology.
“Threats to
critical infrastructure are
accelerating, with Frontier AI
compressing attack timelines while many
operational technology assets cannot be
patched quickly—or at all,” said Mitch
Rappard, director of technical solutions
at Palo Alto Networks. “Together, Palo
Alto Networks and Semtech are extending
Zero Trust security to the industrial
edge by combining resilient AirLink
cellular connectivity with continuous
asset visibility, operational risk
prioritization and AI-powered threat
prevention. This enables operators to
enforce protections without disrupting
critical services, secure distributed
deployments from edge to core, and build
a scalable foundation for today’s
threats and the evolving security
landscape.”
“Securing utility
networks at scale requires partners who
understand both the operational
realities of the field and the demands
of modern cybersecurity. The
collaboration between Semtech and Palo
Alto Networks represents exactly the
kind of integrated, standards-aligned
approach our members expect to protect
critical infrastructure while keeping
pace with digital transformation,” said
Bobbi Harris, executive director of the
Utility Broadband Alliance (UBBA).
“Utilities and
critical infrastructure operators are
managing increasingly complex,
distributed environments where a single
security gap can have far-reaching
consequences,” said Kinana Hussain, vice
president, AirLink Networking Solutions
at Semtech. “Securing distributed
industrial assets requires both trusted
connectivity at the edge and robust
enforcement at the core. Our partnership
with Palo Alto Networks brings together
best-in-class mission-critical edge
connectivity and enterprise-grade
security to deliver a Zero Trust
architecture that is both operationally
practical and field-proven at scale.”
