Datum Systems enrolls New Vice President of Development and Marketing to bolster continued growth and product strategy.

Datum Systems, a global leader in low size, weight and power (SWaP) satellite and troposcatter modem products names Lou Dubin Vice President of Development and Marketing effective May 1, 2023.  Mr. Dubin will lead the company in expanding its leadership in the backdrop of the industry’s transformation of software defined solutions, global ubiquitous connectivity and multi-orbit satellite and non-line-of-sight communications needs.

Lou Dubin joins Datum with over 30 years of experience in the satellite and wireless industry. He previously served as Comtech Satellite Network Technologies Senior Vice President of Product Management, Vice President of Engineering and Vice President of Marketing.  During his tenure with Comtech, Mr. Dubin aligned product development with first to market solutions that enabled software defined ground segment solutions to address LEO, MEO and GEO constellations through a single user platform.  Prior to Comtech Mr. Dubin held the roles of President and Senior Vice President of Sales at Radyne Corporation driving the company from a small privately held operation to a public company with over $120M in revenue and a broad mix of satellite products and solutions.

David Koblinski, President of Datum Systems commented “Lou is a well-respected industry thought leader who brings a broad understanding of industry trends and transitions.  Understanding where the industry is pivoting and how to best position flexible and forward reaching products and solutions will help lead Datum’s continued growth in a rapidly changing environment while focusing on real world solutions.” Mr. Koblinski noted “Having worked with Mr. Dubin at Radyne for over a decade we share the same goals and vision for the future of Datum”.

“I am excited and honored to be joining the Datum team.  Datum is incredibly agile, leveraging a common hardware platform to address multiple market segments,” said Mr. Dubin.  “They are pushing the boundaries of platform re-use and software defined modems, addressing not only the satellite LEO, MEO, HEO, HTS constellations but entirely different wireless communication methods such as non-line-of-site troposcatter products.  I am looking forward to collaborating with Datum, their partners and customers to provide innovative and flexible solutions that meet the needs of the next generation of wireless communications.”

Datum Systems Inc. is a global leader in Satellite and Troposcatter communications modems.  Datum is an OEM manufacturer that designs, manufactures and sells modems to over 120 countries around the globe and has been operating since 1986.

Datum focuses on compact, efficient and feature rich products that can be used as standalone platforms in traditional fixed ground stations or readily integrated into mobile ground, aero, man-pack or maritime terminals.  Datum modems specifically target opportunities where sized weight and power are a focus (SWaP).  Our satellite modems are GEO, MEO, LEO and HTS capable, offering a large feature set, high efficiency and high throughput in a SWaP package.  Our troposcatter modems are often integrated into outdoor troposcatter terminals or radios, supporting high user data rates and robust diversity solutions for more reliable links.
