HISPASAT and Anuvu
reach agreement to provide maritime connectivity in
the Mediterranean and the Caribbean
28 Sept 2022
HISPASAT and Anuvu announced a
new capacity agreement for services in the
Mediterranean and Caribbean seas.
This multi-transponder service
will be provided from HISPASAT’s orbital positions
in 30º West and 61º West, which offer high quality
coverage in both regions. The two companies are
expanding their collaboration in the connectivity
field in mobility environments, a sector in which
they were already providing joint broadband services
in these regions during high traffic seasons.
“This capacity in highly
important coverage areas for commercial maritime
traffic, as well as the excellent reliability of
their connectivity solutions in mobility
environments, make HISPASAT an ideal partner to
reinforce our services in the Caribbean and the
Mediterranean,” said Tim Southard, Anuvu’s VP,
Networks.
Ignacio Sanchis, Chief
Commercial Officer of HISPASAT, added that “we are
very proud to have earned the trust of a global
leader like Anuvu. After overcoming the difficulties
for mobility services caused by the pandemic, we are
convinced that this is a vertical that will grow
solidly, and we have the experience and capacity to
respond to the latest demands.”
Satellites are critical for
on-board connectivity services in the aviation and
maritime environments. HISPASAT and Anuvu offer
solutions in this market in segments such as
commercial aviation and cruise ships, in which the
two companies already work together. HISPASAT’s
fleet features optimized coverage to offer
high-quality, highly efficient and readily available
services in the Mediterranean, Canary Islands,
northwest Africa, the Caribbean, and the coasts of
the Americas. Additionally, the upcoming launch of
the Amazonas Nexus will strengthen the company’s
services in the mobility field in high-demand areas,
such as the Americas and the north and south
Atlantic corridors.
