Gogo Receives Regulatory
Approval to Provide In-flight Connectivity
Service over Eastern and Western Russia
July 15, 2014
Gogo has received
regulatory approval to provide Ku-band satellite
connectivity service for aircraft flying over
the eastern and western regions of
Russia.
This approval is
granted based on Gogo's agreements with
AltegroSky and RuSat to provide Ku-band
satellite service.
"As a full-service
communications company, we are determined to
give our customers the most reliable and
seamless coverage wherever they may be flying,"
said
Anand Chari,
Gogo's chief technology officer. "This license
will allow us to offer our current international
airline partners coverage for their existing
airline routes and is another significant step
in giving us a truly global in-flight
communications network."
In July Gogo expects
to go live with service in these regions. Gogo
currently is clear to operate in over 180
countries and is on target to have 50 to 100
international aircraft flying by the end of the
year.
