Satcom Direct named a Value Added Reseller for Inmarsat Global Xpress for Enterprise

January 22, 2015

Satcom Direct’s Land Mobile group, which focuses on satellite communications solutions for their land-based enterprise customers, is now authorised to provide Global Xpress (GX) products and services.

Satcom Direct has been an Inmarsat partner since 1997 and is presently one of the company’s largest aviation services providers. Satcom Direct has now been appointed as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) by Inmarsat, the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications services, to offer enterprise customers VSAT services via Inmarsat’s ground-breaking Global Xpress Ka-band satellite network.

“We are honoured to be a partner of Inmarsat and to showcase Global Xpress and its benefits to our land customer base," said David Greenhill, Satcom Direct president. “Global Xpress is a great solution for those who must have reliable communications in support of mission critical operations in the most challenging environments.”

Global Xpress is a perfect fit for media organisations that need to stream live video, NGOs supporting critical missions in remote areas as well as energy companies that require higher bandwidth for business applications from their remote sites.

Head of GX Business Development and Strategy for Inmarsat’s Enterprise business unit, Rash Jhanjee said “We are extremely excited to welcome our long-term trusted partner, Satcom Direct, to our family of Global Xpress VARs. Satcom Direct will be able to utilise the advanced mobility features of GX together with the wide portfolio of manual and auto acquire land mobile terminals to provide cost-effective communications services to its high profile customer base. We look forward to enhancing our existing relationship with Satcom Direct and developing a new range of solutions for the growing VSAT marketplace.”

“We continue to expand our portfolio to provide solutions-based services to our customers and to further differentiate us from other providers,” added Greenhill.

Global Xpress is the world’s first globally available Ka-band mobile broadband satellite network, representing a new era in mobile communications. Global Xpress will deliver worldwide coverage from a single operator, providing very high bandwidth services to end-users on land, at sea and in the air, delivered through a resilient, secure waveform that is optimised for mobility. It integrates seamlessly with Inmarsat’s reliable L-band network which customers have depended on for decades.  The first Global Xpress satellite – covering Europe, Russia, Africa, Middle East and Asia – successfully began commercial services in 2014 and Inmarsat is on track to have GX services available on a global basis early in the second half of 2015.
